It’s more than just relaxation; it’s a peaceful escape for both mind and body. Guests can unwind in silence, enjoy soothing massages, and immerse themselves in thermal baths, all surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. This Scandinave Spa review offers my honest review and insights, so you know what to expect during your visit.
Scandinave Spa Review: Blue Mountains, Ontario, Canada
There are many spas in Canada (and I want to visit as many as I can) – but what makes Scandinave Spa special? I was curious about this beautiful space before my visit, and once I experienced it, the spa defied my expectations. There were a few things that could have made our experience even better (more on those below), but overall, we loved this gorgeous spa and it made for a perfectly relaxing day while we were in the Blue Mountains region of Ontario.
First, the Scandinave Spa is located within a 25-acre parcel of hardwood forest in the region of Collingwood. Aside from its iconic location, guests at the spa can enjoy the expansive views of the Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. It was so lovely to be perched on our lounge chairs, or lying in a hammock, gazing up into the trees.

As soon as we pulled into the driveway and walked toward the spa, we were welcomed by a calm and peaceful atmosphere. We visited on a warm, sunny day in June. Since it was a weekday and we saw plenty of availability online, we didn’t make a reservation. That said, it might get busier during other times of the year so I’d recommend checking the availability on their website. If there’s not a lot of space, definitely book ahead for the day you’d like to visit.
I’d also recommend making a booking if you plan on getting a massage. We didn’t, but I did notice that massage bookings were a lot more sparce.
A long wooden boardwalk leads to the entrance, surrounded by tall trees that instantly remind you you’re in the heart of nature.

Check-in was quick and easy. The front desk staff was friendly and provided a brief overview of the spa rules before handing out towels and locker keys. They gave us two towels for the day and mentioned we could come back to the front desk if we needed more. There was nowhere near the pools to obtain additional towels.
Walking into the spa felt like stepping into a full sensory experience. The air smelled of eucalyptus, and everything felt calm and quiet. With no phones allowed, it was easier to enjoy the soft sounds of water flowing and leaves rustling. Even a whisper felt loud in the peaceful silence. They encourage “quiet” here, with the staff shirts saying “silent” on the back and numerous signs reminding you to be quiet. This makes it quite peaceful, but might not be everyone’s vibe.

It’s near Collingwood, a cute town where we got dinner after our spa day.

Are Reservations Required?
Reservations are strongly recommended at Scandinave Spa Blue Mountains, especially for more popular services such as their thermal experiences and massage treatments. They accept walk-ins, but only based on capacity, which is not guaranteed.
If the spa is at capacity, guests will be put on a waitlist. Guests may book spa and massage treatments up to four months in advance.
As mentioned above, we did not have reservations, and it wasn’t an issue; however, I had been checking availability to ensure it would be okay to arrive without them on the day we wanted to come. We weren’t sure what time we would be arriving, which is why I didn’t book ahead of time. You need to arrive within a 15-minute window once you’ve made a reservation.
Onsite Accommodations
No. Scandinave Spa in the Blue Mountains operates exclusively as a day-use spa facility; however, it does offer overnight stays and spa packages through its off-site accommodation partners.
The off-site accommodation options include Blue Mountain Resort, The June Motel, Beaver Valley, Georgian Bay Hotel, and more. Interested guests can book directly through the spa’s accommodation partner.
Is it RV-friendly?
No. There are no on-site accommodations available, as it is a day-use spa facility. Guests seeking RV parking or camping opportunities are not accommodated on-site.
We were in the area visiting with our RV and stayed at Meaford Memorial Park, which is approximately a 30-minute drive away. We loved it here! I’d highly recommend it for anyone looking for someone to stay with their RV in the area. You could also stay at Craigsleith Provincial Park, which is a 10-minute drive.
What to Expect
Scandinave Spa in the Blue Mountains is a stunning spa offering a range of amenities that provide guests with a relaxing escape amidst a natural, forested setting. Whether you want to enjoy the steam room, sauna, or cold plunge pools, there is plenty of space for privacy and relaxation.
For maximum enjoyment and peace, phones and other digital devices are not allowed in various facilities. We did bring our Kindles to read in the hammock and it wasn’t a problem.
Scandinave Spa offers a complete thermal journey experience, starting with its hot installations, such as the steam room and dry sauna. It features hot pools with temperatures ranging from 102 to 104 degrees. There are also cold plunge pools with temperatures ranging from 55 to 60 degrees, as well as cool misting showers. We do wish there had been a “medium” temperature pool, in the 80-degree range.
Various relaxation areas, such as an outdoor fireplace, hammocks, wicker lounging beds, and a forest hiking trail, are available. The lounging beds were very popular, and whenever I saw one open up and started walking towards it, someone would get in front of me to snag it. They definitely could have used a few more on the property. We made do with a hammock instead!
One thing to note is that no in-and-out privileges are available to all guests.
A Thermal Journey experience costs $98, which is will increase to $105 by August 1st, 2025. Peak date rates can go up to $120. The massage packages start at $130 (which will cost $140 by August 1st, 2025) or $150 on peak dates.
Do They Offer an Additional Spa with Massage Services?
Scandinave Spa in the Blue Mountains, Ontario, offers massage treatment services for guests seeking a gentle and soothing massage experience. Enhance your ultimate spa experience with their Swedish, therapeutic, relaxation, and prenatal massage techniques.
They also offer additional massage treatment options, such as the Duo Massage, which is ideal for couples. We didn’t get massages while there, so I can’t speak to the quality or experience of the massage.
Amenities
Scandinave Spa in Blue Mountains, Ontario, boasts a variety of amenities to facilitate every guest’s relaxation and rejuvenation.

The spa and massage facilities include the following:
- Outdoor hot pool
- Nordic waterfall cold plunge
- Dry sauna
- Steam room
- Massage treatment rooms
- Outdoor fireplace
- Forest bathing trail
- Hammocks

There are also additional amenities to offer convenience to every guest, such as:
- Onsite cafe
- Water refill stations and tea stations
- Retail shop
- Wash and change rooms
- Locker facilities
- Wheelchair-accessible paths and parking
The entire facility and individual thermal installations felt spacious and never crowded. However, I did wish there was a bathing suit dryer when I was packing up for the day. They also don’t provide a robe. We brought ours from home, and if you’d like to rent one from them, you must pay an extra 13 CAD.
I was also disappointed that there were no towel drops in the locker room. All towels/robes had to be carried up to the lobby on your way out. It wasn’t a big deal, but a simple towel drop in the locker room would have made things easier, as it would have given me less to carry up the stairs as we were leaving.
What Should I Bring?

All guests must wear bathing suits. We recommend bringing sandals and reusable water bottles, as water refill stations are available throughout the facility. If preferred, guests are welcome to bring their own robes, which is what we did to avoid paying to rent them.
Upon arrival at the spa, guests will be provided with two towels, a locker for their personal items, and a wristband that unlocks their locker.
All digital devices must be stored inside the guest lockers. You’re not allowed to use your devices within the spa facilities, as the spa strictly enforces silence in all areas.
Is There Food Available Onsite?

Scandinave Spa in the Blue Mountains offers a spa bistro from 11:30 AM to 7 PM daily.
However, the onsite bistro only offers light meals and beverages, such as salads, sandwiches, and soups. These are pre-packaged meals, and a few gluten-free and vegetarian options are available for those with specific diets or allergies. Since everything is premade, it cannot be modified to accommodate allergies or preferences. They do not permit outside food within the spa premises.
Overall, we did find the food to be a weak spot in the experience. I’m gluten-free and vegan, and my only options were hummus and veggies, and a roasted red pepper tomato soup. Both were good, but I was still hungry. We ended up leaving before we would have preferred because I wanted to get dinner. My fiancé, who eats everything, had a chicken Caesar salad and a sandwich. He said they were good, but nothing spectacular.
Is it Open Year-Round?
Yes. Scandinave Spa Blue Mountains is open year-round. They are open from 9 AM to 9 PM.
If interested, you can reserve online or by phone. Walk-ins are subject to availability. I recommend checking the website or calling to see availability before arriving.
Is it Handicap Accessible?
Yes. The Scandinave Spa in Blue Mountains, Ontario, is wheelchair-friendly. It offers facilities such as paths, entrances, and outdoor parking designed for accessibility.
Additional Information Before Your Visit
To round up this Scandinave Spa review, take note that it has many outdoor facilities. In case of rain or snow, the facilities will remain open. There are many indoor areas for guests to warm up or dry off after their outdoor thermal experience.
However, these facilities may close temporarily in the event of lightning during a thunderstorm or severe weather. It is best to call the spa ahead of your visit to ensure access to the facilities and an uninterrupted relaxation experience.
I hope this helps you decide whether Scandinave Spa is worth a visit if you’re in the Blue Mountains of Ontario! Overall, we very much enjoyed our day here. It was super relaxing and beautiful, but we do wish the food situation were better. Make sure to have a big, delicious breakfast before you arrive!
